you guys are great!

I feel so loved! Thanks for checking in on me! I do have company in town, so haven't been on the computer except once...I got on to check in with all of you, but couldn't get blogger to work! So, this is my next opportunity! We had a great time over the weekend, going over mountain passes in jeeps! It was both Odell's and Laura's birthdays, Sat. and Sunday. I've stuck with my eating plans with a bobble and a cheat here and there. That was my plan for this week, and I will easily slip back into no cheats next week. I have missed workouts, though! I even had Laura convinced to work out with me, but our plans got waylaid. Today, we are BOTH going to lift...upper body for us! Today is Gracyn's birthday, so I will lift while she is at school this afternoon so I won't interfere with her birthday. No homeschool on your birthday! Yay! Soda fountain for birthday icecream is on tap, but I will drink their sun tea instead as usual! Looking forward to lif...

chin ups

I've never been able to do chin-ups. I did 2 yesterday! AND I got my workout done today. AND tomorrow is free! I hope you all had a great day!

I'm sorry to disappoint you...

...but I still don't look like Popeye, see?? Not enough spinach, I guess. I had fun jumping my rope this morning with my new running step. And then I went to the school this afternoon and jumped rope with the little girls at recess. As it turns out, it will take over 100 doctors to cure Cinderella from kissing that snake. That definitely was a mistake. So, I'm about to do pilates abwork, and tomorrow will be upper bod.

so far...and an UPDATE

Image
Update... I did concentrated bicep curls and standing bicep curls. Absolutely could not do one more. So, I should look like PopEye tomorrow or the next day. (I ate spinach today too) That should cinch the deal. Sara, it's not Monday anymore. I'm awaiting your "Oh Wednesday" post. Ruthie, I think you did it to yourself. Flowerpot, I hope you are feeling very YELLOW. Jo, I love to read your blog. Sarah, eat a melon for me. Two days to free day, if I should choose a free day. We have friends coming for a visit next week. Always throws a kink in my workout plans, but now that I learned another new jumprope move...they can't stop me! ******** so far today, I have done lunges, squats and backward sit-ups on the exercise ball. I did abwork on the ball last night too. I still have biceps to go today, but wanted to blog what I've done so far. I need to eat a meal, but I had a marathon bar for breakfast. About to eat...something on target. :)

almost

Well, I was extrememly lazy this morning and slept in. When dh is out of town, I have trouble dragging myself out of bed. I guess it's because the day will be a little shorter if I get up later and the wait for him to get back won't seem quite as long. Or maybe it has to do with being a blue crayon...ha! Anyway, I finally DID get up and ALMOST copped out of jumping rope, saying, "I'll do it later." I got on-line and saw no evidences of anyone else having worked out yet, and almost thought, "well no one else has worked out either, so it's ok." But instead, I found myself saying, "I've got to get out there and get busy and post so that everyone else will feel more compelled to get it done today!" So, I did. My legs are still very sore, so that was another excuse that turned into a reason...I decided that my legs needed some loosening up. They do feel better, and so do I. Also, I learned a new jumprope trick this morning! It's the ru...

what color crayon are you?

Image
***I am a Blue Crayon*** Your world is colored in calm, understated, deep colors. You are a loyal person, and the truest friend anyone could hope to find.On the inside, you tend to be emotional and even a bit moody. However, you know that people depend on you. So you put on a strong front. Your color wheel opposite is orange. Orange people may be opinionated, but you feel they lack the depth to truly understand what they're saying. sore and happy

I'm very sore from my stair-conquering workout, so I was glad that today was an upper body day for me! chest press, flyes shoulder press, upward rows tricep dips OOPS! I did eat the last piece of chocolate cake. It had to be done.

Stairway to Fitness-one year

Image
One year ago, our family went fishing...We walked down this set of steps to the river. There are 91 steps...very, very steep. You can't even see the bottom of the stairs in this picture....This first picture is from the top looking down. I realized as I fought for breath on this stairway, that I was more out of shape than I had EVER been. I honestly thought I would faint before reaching the bottom. On the way up, I had to stop and rest for minutes at a time FOUR times. I still struggled even with the rests. When I reached the top, I wanted to kiss the ground. This was the stairway that changed me. I decided at the top of this stairway that I would re-claim my health. Today, one year later, our family went fishing...We walked down this set of steps to the river. There are 91 steps...very, very steep. You can't even see the top of the stairs in this picture...This second picture is from the bottom looking up. I realized as I RAN these steps today that I am more fit th...

too busy to eat??

Just now blogging about yesterday's eats and workout... I am sore from 3B's yesterday, so I guess my lunges and squats were gooood enough. bicep curls, hammer curls with higher weight. and reverse flyes and rows. I missed on timing for every meal yesterday. I only had 4 meals, and two were more carbs than I normally would eat just because I was soooo hungry by the time I got to eat. sometimes it's like that! Oh well. It was a busy day. But good.

jumpin' josh UPDATED

Update: I almost forgot abs! I did it though! On the exercise ball! Now, I'm headed to bed. Just wanted to mention the abwork because I usually forget to report that. So, I got outside and jumped rope like a crazy frog after reading that Ruth got up at 6 am to do her cardio before her early and full day today. I also completed all planned school work plus some extra with the kids. Still haven't figured out a good schedule for "Kaegan time." But amazingly, I did mop the Kitchen floor and make my bed and fold laundry. All in a day's work... Once again, my chest and arms are sore as though I'm making progress. I'm sure that I am, but I just can't see it so much. When I think about it all, I can tell you that even though I may not look more defined or "cut" after yet another BFL challenge, I am into smaller clothes. Still 4's, but even the small 4's fit me now. And, also when I think about it, I can press one set of 10 at 30#'s ...

up and running!

I've felt better today, but was glad today was not a cardio day. I did upper body... chest press and flyes shoulder press and upward rows kickbacks and lying extensions Eats are good. afternoon timing was a little off, but not too bad. Here are some things I'm wondering about...for all you experts out there... I always fatigue my muscles, and I'm always sore (usually very sore), but then, I can't seem to manage more weight. For example: On chest press, I've been pressing 25 pound dumb bells in each hand for a long time now. Every time I try to do 30, I just can only manage 1 set of 10... I don't see really any changes from the beginning of this past challenge to now as far as definition is concerned. Anyway, Just pondering things. Need to change things up a bit. Not sure what to change.

day off from cardio

Well, I ate on target today, but decided to rest one more day...still not feeling well. I've had low energy and a headache all day along with my stuffy nose. I plan to be all better by tomorrow! :) I got to talk to Sara today, so that was fun! And homeschool started here today which was also fun. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to bed early. Hope you all had a good day!

what's up, doc?

Here's what's up with me... Friday, I had planned to lift in the afternoon. Hubby was flying in and called to say that he didn't have a way home from the airport (hour away) because the jeep that had been in the shop for a lift and new wheels/tires wasn't ready. I loaded the kids up to go get him thinking I'd lift when I got home in the afternoon as planned. Got there, more jeep trouble. The shop, of course, is in the NEXT town (another hour), and we needed to go there to get it, but it would be later than the guy thought. Drove to the town to get the jeep when ready. Well, it didn't get ready, and we were in a cute little town we seldom go to, so we shopped around some and ate at a fun restaurant. No workout, bad food timing, slightly off evening meal. Saturday was free and my one year anniversary of BFL. I woke up with a cold and slight fever. I'd planned a fun one year workout (I still plan to do it and will post pics when it happens), but I fel...

an 80's abworkout in ruth's honor

Image
Today is day 75. wow. I jumped my heart out this morning. It was fun...I don't seem to get tired of jumping rope! I plan to do pilates abwork. I've been doing abwork on the exercise ball, so a change of pace will be nice. I also found an old video of Denise Austin's abwork...should be funny. I may do that one today instead. She is so goofy, but her ab workouts can kill a person. Besides, that would honor Ruth and her 80's theme! Big bangs, leotard, leg warmers...ha ha ha! Oh, Ruth, you have to take a picture with leg warmers! ooooh! I almost forgot to thank Sara for introducing me to Bolthouse Farms protein smoothies. WOW! They are the best RTD smoothies ever! I found some in another town...too far away to get more any time soon. I'll haffta order them online! What a yummmmmy treat! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

blah, blah, blah...

Sort of a blah, but good enough day today... Gracyn started running fever, so she isn't going to adventure camp at all. That's good and bad. She's missing out, but I like having her home! I did squats and plie' squats today as well as rows and backward sit-ups. I didn't do biceps today because I accidentally did them on Monday during upper body and I'm still sore. So, my workout was short and sweet. Tomorrow is the last cardio before free day which is always fun because I always want to push myself a little more on Thursdays! So, think of free day and make cardio count tomorrow!!

jumped again

Yes, I chose my rope again this morning. It's fun to try to learn and practice the tricky moves from my video between sets. I took it a little easy because my joints and muscles in my legs have been achy since my last jumprope session which was my first back here in the hills after a long sea level trip. Guessing it will just take a little time re-adjusting. Today felt better. I'm not as achy. I'll do abwork later today. Loved Ruth's post. I wish my day had started off as well. Gracyn has been under the weather, and I had to make the decision for her not to go to adventure camp this morning. We'll just meet up with everyone either tonight or tomorrow. She is feeling better, so that's good. I also found out that Braeden's PE and Art classes are too full and he can't attend them after all. I had him all fired up about going too. Another bummer was to find out that the school has decided that they need Kaegan's teacher for part of the time ...

is it upper body or 3 B's today????

I couldn't remember, so I picked upper body. I didn't get to it until late in the evening because I was up at the school decorating the first grade classroom like a castle. It's way cool looking. Tomorrow is the official first day of school here. Not for our homeschool, though. We always start the day after labor day. It's just the way I do it. The classes the kids take at the school building begin tomorrow, though. Gracyn's class and all of middle school/high school go on a camping trip for the first week of school. She is sick, though, and will have to stay home until she is well. Hopefully, she can catch up to them later in the week. Tomorrow is cardio, and I'm achy like an old lady. I think it is part of readjusting to the altitude. I'll take it a little easy tomorrow. My legs feel like they used to in the beginning of my program (looooong ago), and I think it was the altitude then too. I kept thinking I was over training, but I know that ...

there's no place like home...

We are back at home, and I enjoyed jumping rope in the nice, cool, dry air this morning! We had a great vacation, and we miss our friends, but it feels good to be back in our little nook we call home. I stayed on program for the first week of our trip, but slacked off for the second. It was fun, and I had no worries because I knew I'd get home and get back on track. So, I am. I'll have to get used to the altitude again after being at sea level for 2 weeks. I felt the 100 jump Hiits this morning more than I did before Texas. Guess what was on my doorstep when I got home??? My present from "Flowerpot"...it is the coooooolest cast-iron grate that used to be for storing firewood. It is now a decorative item for my house, and I've been wandering around looking for the most perfect spot for it! Thanks!! I love it! I've missed my bloggy friends!

Thursday

Well, I'm doing a "fair" job with the eating part, and am caught up on the workout part too. So, that's good! My folks have a recumbant bike, and I've been using it. I never liked it for BFL before because of the way the BFL intervals are set up, but for Hiits, it's just fine! My lifting isn't as intense as it would be at home, but I'm sore, so I guess I'm doing ok. We have had a slight change in our travel plans. My uncle passed away...he had lung cancer and we knew it was coming soon...praise God for claiming Uncle Floyd's heart first. He was baptized about a month ago! Happy, huh? Better run! I'm helping in the kitchen... I'll check back when I can!

i did it!!!

Successfully kept up with eating and working out on my Denver trip! Now, we leave for Texas! I'll be able to blog some while gone, so I'll be "seein'" ya! Jumped rope this morning too! Gotta go travel.....
