half

Belly dancing and tris and bis today.  The afternoon didn't contain enough time for everything I wanted to fit into it.  didn't want to work out this morning because hubby was here only for the morning.  So, that left the afternoon for 2 belly dancing practices and lifting, so I cut the workout in half with chest and shoulders still to do tomorrow.  :0) All is well.

snowmobile workout

To answer Ruth's skiing question, no, I didn't go skiing.  Instead, I went snowmobiling.  My legs were already sore from running some good, hard sprints and my shoulders are perpetually sore.  After the snowmobiling, my legs are more sore and my shoulders and arms are too.  It was a lot of fun.  We went down a long vertical section like some sort of crazy-young people.  Wow.  That was fun!  Too bad I'm only crazy and not young because now I'm stiff and sore! Today was legs day and we did supersets of leg extensions and leg press before doing squats.  Now, that was tough, especially since I'm already old, um-I mean sore!  lol

friday is good

We went to workout this evening... back, (skipped shoulders today), tris and bis. Middle school boys who have a crush on Sara showed up...rah. We were glad we were almost done!  Good workout, though!

TODAY

Ok, well, it was yesterday, and Sara already posted our video.  But here it is anyway in case you missed it.  Notice the poo-free hair and all the fun we had yesterday ! We just got back from running sprints along the river which has almost completely thawed and is running too!  Feels good to run OUTSIDE!  The days have been gorgeous!

Tuesday

Sore legs, abs, and upper body.  Must be doing something right.   yesterday was belly dancing and upper body/abs day.  The day before was legs day.  Today should be cardio, but I've been trying to recover from a headache, so we'll see.  I don't get headaches often, but I've been deep cleaning all the dirt/dust from the dry-walling and sanding, etc., from our construction--I think I just breathed that all day and got the headache.  We still have more to finish, but are waiting for bathtub parts.  It's very close to done, and I'm excited to get back to "normal."   I think my tummy is looking tighter...could be my imagination.  :) Ok...time for cheers! Yay for Ruthie for her sugar-free marathon and strong shoulder!  Hooray for Sara for being stronger!  Yippee for Sauchagirl for her new smaller size!  Go, Tea with your ACV water stuff!  I'm excited for Janelle for giving herself her life back!  Go for your dreams, Joann!  Yay for Sarah's kookiness!...

heavy

upper body...chest, shoulders, tris, and bis.  Plus skiing again! I noticed on today's workout sheet that today was a "heavy arms" day.  You know what that means...My arms will be heavy tomorrow.

cardio day

We headed to the ski hill for cardio today!!  Sooooo fun!  And Kaegan can ski all by himself  these days, so I actually got to ski lots!  :)  :) Tomorrow, we ski again and lift in the evening.  Yay! My house is still under construction, but is getting close to done!!!!!!!!   All good.

triple drop sets

So, triple drop sets today were terribly good.  I'm tired.  I'll be sore.  I'm still sore from days past.  In fact, we skipped shoulders because they are still sore and because we had already killed them with our back exercises.   Hope your day was good!

2 for 1

two posts in one!! Yesterday was legs day and I really feel it today.  I really like this 8 week blitz follow-up.  The workouts are intense and they vary.  This leg workout had super sets of leg extension/leg press first and then squats and deadlifts. Today, we did chest press, inclined press, shoulder barbell press, and side raises.  Then, we did a super set for tris and bis. It was all good, and we belly danced too.   I know, I know, you want pictures!!  We will try!!

weekend

OK... Our weekend of fun threw me off track!  We missed our upper body workout on Friday.  I was going to try to make it up and then I thought, "nope...it was just a miss."  Yesterday should have been legs, but working in the kitchen (new countertops, yippeeee) and babysitting knocked that plan out of whack.  So, today should be "off"....it is legs instead.  Today, we will be doing a superset for quads and hams and then squats and something else I've forgotten.  It will feel good to get back on track!  Yesterday shouldn't have been a free-eating day either, but it turned out to be with the kitchen torn apart (hadn't planned that...a friend decided to help and plans of closet organization turned into kitchen demolition) and so today is back on with eats too!  AND closet organization day!  I'll have to post remodeling pictures soon.  Nothing is completely finished yet, but close.  I got to take a bath in my new DEEP bathtub last night...ah!

workout complete!

Hey!! We are both still struggling with sore throat and general yuckiness, but we went to the gym and did our upper body workout anyway.  Skipped cardio yesterday trying to recover and will probably skip it tomorrow too, but we plan to do abwork.  I hope everyone is healthy and happy!

upper body got a work out

I've felt better today, but still not 100%.  Worked back, shoulders and then supersets on Triceps and Biceps.  Here is what a superset looked like: tricep pushdowns, 15 reps no rest bicep incline curls, 15 reps Then again at 12 reps for 3 more times. It was good.  Tomorrow, we plan to do abwork and cardio.   We also painted my new master bathroom today.  We chose a pretty creamy color and then "cranberry dark chocolate" for an accent wall.  Doesn't that make you hungry?  Then, I rubbed gold metallic on it and I'm trying to decide if I like it with the gold or if I want to repaint that wall with the pretty cranberry chocolate without the gold.  It was lots more fun to paint with Sara's help!  I still need to finish my bedroom...2 more walls.  It's venetian plaster with an olive-kacki color with a burnt umber sort of color washed over it.  I love it!  One day we will be finished with the broken-pipe-fiasco.  Anyway, all that to say that upper body definitely...

how are you?

sore throat and achy with slight fever and headache.  That's how I am.  Did lower body yesterday anyway.  Those triple drop sets were torturous, but we did them and did them well.  I had thought I might take it easy since I'm sick, but felt stronger than I had expected.  I think having a workout buddy with me kept me going strong!  Thanks, Sara!  Today is an upper body day...back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps, I think?  That will happen later.  Also, belly dancing is today.  That's fun! The weekend was great fun except that I didn't sleep well and kept waking up with my new sore throat.  So, I wasn't feeling well for shopping day, but managed anyway!  Bought a few new cute things.  We ate at Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, and Chipotle.  MMMM  oh, and starbucks!   We have been planning to try to go shampoo-free (crazy, but true) and needed supplies for that...baking soda, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar.  We bought those things and a new hat, so...all set!  Will k...

yay! A girls' weekend!

We leave this afternoon for a shopping trip, just Sara, Mindy, Gracyn, and Maddie and I.  This will be fun!  We will be eating out and just having fun, so free day starts tonight! I wanted to post first because Sara and I tore things up in the workout room this morning!  We walked in and 4 men were there (it's normally empty) and they ALL froze and stared at us.  They were the "over 50 men's weight lifting club."  They asked if God sent us and invited us back.  LOL We will do legs on Sunday.

Friday

I did cardio on the elliptical yesterday.  8 Hiits.  It felt good.  Today is a lifting day and the day that we leave to go on a "girls' weekend," so I'm not sure when the lifting will happen.  We will try to get it done this morning, but if we don't, then we will miss (sad, but true).  Legs should be tomorrow, but will most likely be Sunday for us instead. Hope you all have a great Friday!

First official workout

We completed our first official workout of the New Blitz.  It was killer.  I'll be interested to find out what Ruth thought.  I know that Sara, Odell, and I are exhausted!  Those triple drop sets were really great and terrible at the same time. Here is a drop set from tonight: tricep extensions...8 reps at a heavy weight, immediately into 8 more reps at lesser weight, and then immediately into 8 reps at a lesser weight.  Rest.  Do it again. whew!  Nice soreness is in tomorrow's forecast.

test results

We failed on pics so far, but still plan to post them ASAP. Here are the stats: Once again, we did a pretest, choosing 4 lifts and lifting as much weight as possible for 5 reps.  The idea is not to be able to lift one more rep.  The exercises we chose were Bench press, squats, bicep curls, and shoulder press.  The first number in blue is pretest, the second number in red is post. Bench:   70#   80# Squat:   160#   180# Bicep curl:   22.5#   25# shoulder press:   22.5#   25# Measurements: - 1.5" in chest -4" in shoulders stayed the same in waist (boo) and quad -.5" in arm Weight and body fat percentage:  no change. I'm not sure that the -4" in shoulders could be right.  My clothes still fit, except my pants are slightly looser and I could use a new bra.  I guess if my back/chest are leaner, then I might be down some in my shoulders, but 4 inches?  Anyway, I'm stronger!  And slightly leaner looking even if my body fat percentage is stubborn!

yes, we did it!

We did our strength test with much fun and excitement!  Details tomorrow with pictures!

to all you patient people out there...

We still haven't done our strength test!!!  Here is my excuse: When my family moved here 2 1/2 years ago, we anticipated lots of outdoor fun.  I soon discovered that I was too out of shape to really enjoy those things.  Sledding was fun, but way too much work...up the hill, huff/puff!  And skiing, I felt so big and awkward.  I'd cross country skiied long ago one time and loved it.  I'd looked forward to that after moving here, but couldn't even bring myself to try it after realizing my state of fitness.   I said all that to say that I have no regrets about not getting our testing done these past few days...we have been out doing all the things I moved here to do and loving every bit of it!  It has been so fun to feel alive again!  Last winter was still my old, bigger self.  I'd just begun this fitness roll I'm on and still big and...tired.  This winter...different story!  I started BFL after trying to go fishing with my family and crossing some long, steep steps...
